Instructional Leagues integrate weekly lessons with game play and are great for building skills and confidence in the game quickly. Players typically register for this league as individuals and the club makes up teams, although you are welcome to register as a team if you have four friends who want to learn and play together. This is the only league that does not require membership in Dakota Curling in order to participate.
Mentor Leagues (or 2+2 Leagues)
Teams are formed by the club and made up of two players with experience and two novice players. Experienced players who sign up for the mentor league will receive a discounted rate as an incentive to help develop new curlers. If you are unable to get into an Instructional League and would like a more gentle introduction to the game, the Mentor League would be a good place for you.
The majority of leagues at Dakota are Open Leagues, and these leagues are open to all players of any experience level, including players who are brand new to the game. Teams may be made up of any combination of men and women players. These are adult leagues, although teenagers 13 and older may join a team in conjunction with an adult family member.
These leagues are geared for players with at least 3 years of curling experience. Teams may be made up of any combination of men and women. These are adult leagues, although teenagers 13 and older may join a team in conjunction with an adult family member.
Lakeville Chamber League
This is a special league open to members of the Lakeville Chamber of Commerce. Teams may be made up of any combination of men and women and any skill level.
A mixed league is made up of teams of two men and two women. This is a great league for couples to play together and Mixed Leagues are typically very social.
Players with Special Needs
Players with special needs such as wheelchair curlers or deaf curlers are welcome in any of the above league formats. Dakota Curling is very interested in developing leagues that serve specific audiences. If you are part of a special interest group and have an idea for a new league that would better serve your community, please let us know!
